Poetry

Poems take many forms as is fairly obvious. It is traditional for a ninja to write a haiku when they close a contract in memory of the recently deceased but they are encouraged to write them at other times as well. Poetry is so important to the guild that there is an official position of Poet Laureate.

Haiku

Haiku is a form of poetry where the first line has five syllables, the second has seven and the third, and last line, has five again.

meditation mats
calming, relaxing, peaceful
bloodless fun for all

Tanka

Tanka are composed of five lines of five, seven, five, seven, seven syllables.

calm meditation
universe wonders seem clear
blossom falls slowly
enlightenment appears near
ooh look there goes a kitten
